Underwritten Life Cover benefit?
The Underwritten Life Cover benefit is the core of
the Fenomenal Woman offering.
We will pay out a lump sum on the death of the main member, R20,000 of which will be paid out immediately to cover funeral expenses. For an additional premium, you can also add Dread Disease cover, Functional Impairment cover, Disability cover and Female Trauma protection.
What you should know
-
you must be between the ages of 18 and 60 to be insured under this policy
-
you can choose the amount of life cover you would like, subject to a minimum of R200,000, and up to a maximum of R3 million
-
a health questionnaire must be submitted
-
a negative HIV is required in order to retain full cover for all benefits on the policy
-
if no negative HIV test is provided, or if the HIV test provided is reactive, cover will be set at 100% of the sum assured for the first 3 months and 10% thereafter for the remainder of the life of the policy
-
regardless of HIV status, accidental death will be covered at 100% of the sum assured
-
the first R20,000 will be paid out within 48 hours to cover funeral expenses
-
100% of the sum assured will be paid out if we are presented with evidence that the insured life has less than 12 months to live
-
your monthly premium will depend on your age, the state of your health, and your choice of benefits
-
death by suicide is not covered during the first 24 months of the policy
-
this policy does not acquire any surrender value or paid-up value
Serious Illness cover
100% of the sum assured will be paid out if the insured develops or suffers one of the following conditions:

Major organ transplant

Cancer (10% of sum assured during first 6 months of policy)

Functional Impairment cover
A percentage of the sum assured will be paid out in the event of functional impairment, according to the following table:

Occupational Disability Cover
In the event of occupational disability, you will receive a lump sum disability benefit equivalent to 100% of your sum assured. In addition, you will also be covered for all functional impairment events, as detailed above.
Female Trauma Protector
You will receive a lump sum payout up to a maximum of R250,000, in the event of certain incidents or conditions occurring, according to the following table:

How to claim
In the event of a claim you, your beneficiaries or your nominated Executor simply need to contact us on 0800 252 467 to obtain a claim form; our consultants will advise on any additional documents that are required. The completed claim form must be submitted within 180 days of the incident for which the claim is being made.
